Ruurd Speelman Ruurd Speelman is one of Western Australia’s top public speakers and presenter. He has been presenting the “Self Confidence through Effective Public Speaking course” for the past ten years. He has over thirty six years experience with Rostrum – a public speaking organisation – including the last twenty two years as an Accredited Critic. He is a Freeman of Rostrum; the highest title in the organisation, given in recognition of exceptional services to both Rostrum and the community, for the past 10 years. He is also a member of the Training Council Executive and is the Director of Training and a tutor/mentor. In Feb 2000, Ruurd, whilst not a member of Rotary, was awarded the Paul Harris Fellowship for services to Rotary Youth Programs through the development of public speaking and debating skills. John McPherson John McPherson has over 40 years experience Journalism & Public Relations. He completed his Cadetship as a Journalist with The Age newspaper in Melbourne. After leaving the Age and became the PR officer with the Victorian Railways, State Electricity Commission of Victoria and later the PR Manager for the Trotting Control Board of Victoria. In 1984, John became the Media Liaison Officer for the Australian Olympic Team to Los Angeles. In the late 1980s, he became the Director of Publicity for the Australian Institute of Bankers. In 1998, he was appointed as the Ministerial Press Secretary to the NT Minister for Arts and Museums; Education; and Communications and Advanced Technology. John’s work has taken him to Nui Dat, South Vietnam; Dili, East Timor and Baghdad, Iraq. John Fisher
John has a civil engineering background with an emphasis on major buildings and infrastructure and has hands-on experience as a client, consultant, contractor and subcontractor. Over many years in project management consultancy he has managed a wide variety of commercial, retail, health, education, airport and rail projects. He has had an international career spanning many countries and developed profitable consultancy businesses in the UK, UAE, South East Asia and Australia. John has a background in universities, directing major capital works including extensive involvement in the development of new hospital facilities and has managed the master planning for urban redevelopment for multiple Regional Development Authorities. John has strong commercial and contractual skills with significant niche experience in project recovery. He has a specialist interest in Alternative Dispute Resolution. A qualified mediator, he has been an expert witness and has lectured internationally on project management and dispute management. John is registered as an adjudicator in WA and NT and has presented courses to train more adjudicators on behalf of both the WA and NT Governments.
